This picture essay, created in 2023, explores the prevailing forestry policy, practices and management in the UK & Scotland at the time, though little appears to have changed since.

The essay itself (see download below) forms my outcome following an innovative community consultation & artist residency I undertook with Morag Paterson as part of  the Fantastic Forest Festival, held in Galloway in February 2023, and which we co-organised & co-curated with the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership and a wide range of partners & volunteers.

As part of the residency, at various events the community were asked, ‘What 3 words describe forestry in Galloway today?’. The word cloud presented in the essay below gathers together the 70+ responses received.
